Instructions and Caveats:
- Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
- Champions UNDERLINEDmay be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgement.
- Within each tier the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
- This tier list takes data from ALL players; however, since the majority of players fall in the first three tiers, the majority of data points will come from there.
- Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength, but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
- The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
- Amumu [God Tier Jungle] - A slow shift to a very melee heavy meta combined with nerfs on Devourer and buffs on Runeglaive from a few patches back are pulling Amumu back into the spotlight. He's extremely easy to follow-up on and deals absurd amounts of damage for the skill required to play him. This makes Amumu a champion with a very low skill requirement that also has a massive impact on gameplay. This allows plays to focus on the bigger picture, concentrating on tactical plays rather than technical prowess.
- Azir [Tier 3 Mid] - The buffs this patch to Azir via changing the distance of Azir's soldier starting point on his ultimate didn't give him much of a boost. This is probably because the assassin meta isn't particularly dominant at the moment. It's definitely more likely that he'll be in danger of getting sniped off by Veigar or Lux from a range.
- Darius [Tier 1 Top] - The nerfs to Darius' overall power this time around were significant. Dropping from an impressive top 5 win rate to a measly bottom 5, some might be quick to say that he's completely gutted and unplayable. However, I think that would be hasty in this case and he's somewhere close to balanced on the stronger side. We'll see after some more data flows in.
- Dr. Mundo [Tier 1 Top] - Although Mundo's buffs this patch look small on paper, they've actually helped him a decent amount as a top laner and as a jungler. I think he's a good pick-up right now and very easy to play as well.
- Fiora [Tier 1 Top] - Despite being nerfed, Fiora still remains a solid combatant top lane. She's not really worth a ban anymore, and hopefully she'll stop being banned so that the Fiora mains can start playing their champion again.
- Kindred [Tier 2 Jungle/Tier 3 ADC] - From initial results on Kindred, it appears that it's much stronger as a jungler than as an AD carry. This is likely a direct result of the buff it gets from stealing the enemy jungle camps. That being said, Kindred experiences much more success at average divisions than higher ones, a direct result of the ward coverage that prevents her from getting the stacks she needs to scale hard.
- Mordekaiser [Tier 1 ADC] - As pointed out by many, Mordekaiser is indeed more of a cheesey champion than a purely dominating one when it comes to solo queue. In arranged team games he's still an untamed beast with proper coordination. However, I'm comfortable moving him down to high Tier 1 for now.
- Riven [God Tier Top] - With bans on the Darius, Fiora, Garen trinity, Riven's making a strong comeback top lane. The fact that she's an amazing counter to Darius' healing through her strong close range all-in play makes her even better in comparison.
- Sona [Tier 1 Support] - Similar to Mordekaiser, she's somewhat closer to high Tier 1 than a pure God Tier champion. As a result, I'm comfortable moving her down a bit as well.
