Instructions and Caveats:

  • Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
  • Champions UNDERLINEDmay be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgement.
  • Within each tier the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
  • This tier list takes data from ALL players; however, since the majority of players fall in the first three tiers, the majority of data points will come from there.
  • Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength, but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
  • The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.

Champion Explanations

  • Fiora [God Tier Top] - After a brief stint dropping down to Tier 1 after her latest buff/nerf combination, Fiora's steadily back on the rise. With her ultra-powerful dueling power combined with her possible game-altering stun block, she's still impacting games in a very positive kind of way...at least for her own team.
  • Galio [Tier 2 Mid] - Still a very underrated champion in my book, Galio offers a balanced mix of both poke, all-in power, and team utility. He also counters the majority of meta mid laners very heavily. The only drawback of course, is that he's vulnerable to AD based team compositions such as Yasuo and Zed mid lanes.
  • Gangplank [Tier 2 Mid] - A strong FOTM wind pulled Gangplank back to shore in the mid lane. Utilizing his powerful waveclear and long range poke moves via his barrels, Gangplank mid is quickly rising in popularity. Honestly though, he plays very similar to Galio in terms of his role in team compositions, so I'm not sure why we're seeing more Gangplank and less Galio other than rework loving and the joy of being a pirate.
  • Janna [God Tier Support] - Ever since her latest nerfs, her performance has risen steadily since then, leading us to believe that Janna's drastic drop in win rate was mostly a result of a fluke considering her historically strong influence on games. Her ability to impact a game by negating normally undodgeable moves still gives her a strong moat.
  • Lux [God Tier Mid] - Still standing by the opinion that Lux is in fact, one of, if not THE strongest mid laner in the game at the moment, Lux provides insanely high late game burst considering her cooldowns. Although her early game can be difficult against highly aggressive champions if they flash her spells, she quickly scales into late game to be a long-range Leblanc-level damage mage with AOE burst. Her ultimate also allows her to make potential late game objective snipes in solo queue.
  • Miss Fortune [Tier 1 ADC] - I've always stood by Miss Fortune being a very strong AD champion in solo queue. With her latest buffs, her relevance has been greatly improved into the late game. A predominant lane bully, she's an excellent duelist with the ability to wreak havoc.
  • Mordekaiser [God Tier ADC] - At the risk of sounding insane, Mordekaiser is not that strong as an AD carry. His early game snowballing cheese is absolutely devastating, but if you can still reach late game, team compositions with a natural ranged AD carry will still be stronger.
  • Rammus [Tier 1 Jungle] - I mentioned this before, but just to reiterate, Rammus is extremely powerful right now as a result of Dead Man's Plate's introduction into the scene. By providing him increased speed, tankiness, slight burst, and an extra CC, his core strengths are heavily amplified.
  • Tahm Kench [Tier 2 Support] - Surprisingly, I don't see many clamors to pull Tahm Kench into God Tier...The new Thresh of the support kingdom, Tahm Kench is indeed one of the strongest champions when mastered. However, with his high skillcap, it's difficult to coordinate the plays necessary to reach his potential in solo queue.
  • Veigar [God Tier Mid] - Giving Veigar a conservative Tier 1 after his latest buffs was as it sounds, a bit too conservative. His previous level of burst damage just needed a bit extra to send it over the top, and here it is, over the top.
  • Yasuo [Tier 1 Top] - Despite being chiefly a mid laner, Yasuo also does very well as a top laner. The reason for this is that laning top allows him to split push and fight melee, while still allowing your team to pick up a poke-oriented mid-laner. However, having a Wukong or Malphite top lane and Yasuo mid does still work better if you can coordinate that in solo queue. You could also run a Wukong mid if you so desired...
  • Zac [Tier 1 Top] - I have some personal bias as a Janna main towards Zac, as I've never seen a Zac successfully use his Elastic Slingshot against me *takes a bow*. Meanwhile, as a top lane duelist he's quite good 1v1. His damage is surprisingly high, and his sustain allows for excellent trading potential. Additionally, with the extra farm that top lane provides compared to his jungle form, he ends up dealing a significant amount of damage into the mid-game while remaining tanky. Not a bad combination.
