Theme
As the description entails, this team composition focuses mainly on knock-ups. With the amount of raw CC this team has, it can easily allow its hypercarries to take down enemy champions with little to no resistance.Champions
Kalista [Marksman] - Released near the end of Season 4, Kalista's proven herself to be a powerful marksman capable of quickly snowballing teams to victory with her lifesteal builds. As a late game hypercarry, Kalista works well in this team comp that gives her free reign to dish out her damage. Even if the team falls behind, her kiting power combined with the peel this team can provide allows her to whittle down even the tankiest of enemies. Knockup Duration: 2 seconds
Yasuo [Mid] - No knock-up team composition would be complete without the assistance of Yasuo. With his personal knock-up combined with the ability to sustain his team's knock-ups, he makes the perfect finisher to a knock-up composition. Additionally, his ultimate combined with Vi's makes for an insane level 6 ganking potential that should put fear into just about every squishy champion on the rift. Knockup Duration: 1 second
Braum [Support] - In terms of knock-up supports Braum reigns supreme, especially when combined with Kalista. With their two ultimates put together, he can easily hold enemies up in the air for 3.5 seconds. Knockup Duration: 1.5 seconds
Vi [Jungler] - The knock-up queen herself, Vi brings to this team concentrated single target damage that naturally collects the enemy team together to close in on the perceived threat. This means that the rest of the enemy team kindly becomes an easy clump for the rest of her allies to finish what she started. Knockup Duration: 1.25 seconds
Malphite [Top Laner] - What Malphite lacks in sheer damage compared to Wukong, he brings in the form of durability, and equally importantly, a form of much needed AP damage. While it's not necessary or recommended for him to build any AP to support this, Malphite's ability to deal constant damage via sunfire cape and ground slam makes him unignorable in a teamfight. Knockup duration: 1.5 seconds
Key Concepts
- Total AOE Knockup Duration: 6 seconds; Single Target: 7.25 seconds
- This team has more than enough knock-up power offensively to finish off a team without using all of them at once. This means that if there's any particularly dangerous members of the enemy team that needs to be peeled, feel free to assign someone to peel duty as needed.
- If this team falls behind early, concentrate on making sure your bot lane gets back into the game, as they'll provide a combined 3.5 seconds of pure knock-up CC on their own. They'll also be able to fulfill both the front and backline roles.
Example Video
Although imperfect, here's an example of a combo with just Vi, Malphite, and Braum. Can you imagine how effective the full team would be in combination?Countering
To counter this team, a team that's strong at back line diving is very important, combined with some anti combo spells.
Here's an example team that may succeed:
Here's an example team that may succeed:
- Cho'Gath [Mid] - With his strong waveclear and solid durability, Cho'Gath is difficult to force out of lane and naturally counters a good wombo with his AOE silence if he can avoid the initial burst. He also does extremely well against Yasuo in lane.
- Rengar [Jungle] - With a tanky midlaner, having an assassin on the team helps tremendously, especially as his invisible initiation allows him to quickly take down Kalista before the enemy team can respond (hopefully).
- Wukong [Top] - Wukong on this team gives them one more diver, adding to the burst damage and back line sneaking power of this counter team comp.
- Morgana [Support] - An ideal support to prevent a target from getting singled out by Vi, her black shield allows her to keep the team from needing to fully commit to peel duty during Vi's initial engage.
- Graves [ADC] - With his natural tankiness and ability to dodge skillshots, Graves is an excellent choice for this team comp. His long range AOE ultimate also allows him to assist with the backline burst damage without sacrificing his close range damage for tank slaying.
