Patch 8.24
Now that Dark Harvest has been nerfed a few times since its inception, we're seeing more of a balance between champions across the board. Players are still opting for Akali and Irelia post-nerf simply because they love the thought of absolutely dominating the enemies at high speeds. However, more stable picks like Pantheon and Malzahar are beating out the FOTM picks if you want to ensure victory for Season 9 practice.Check out the full list below!

- Champions UNDERLINEDmay be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgment.
- Within each tier, the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
- Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
- Professional Picks may not necessarily translate into good picks for solo queue ladder, the two have slightly different meta-games and skill levels.
- The creator of this list is diamond so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
- Blitzcrank [God Tier Support] - In the preseason, players are much less acute when it comes to the early game awareness. Blitzcrank specializes on picking up free kills while enemy players are off grabbing their hot pockets out of the oven, which means that before the ranked season starts it's easy for him to snowball games from the get-go.
- Brand [Tier 1 Support] - In the current meta Brand remains a stable damage support. His ability to absolutely destroy enemy teams is potent, especially in a meta with Irelia and Yasuo mid to maximize his AOE bounce damage.
- Cassiopeia [Tier 1 Top] - After the Viktor nerfs players are looking for new ways to bully top lane, and Cassiopeia is almost always the number one choice for true ranged vs melee bully prowess. She's still fairly mana reliant, but her early game cheese potential remains high.
- Irelia [Tier 2 Top] - After the nerfs to Irelia, she's slowly dwindling in potential as a top laner. While her burst damage remains high, her ability to sustain against the heavy meta tanks leaves her something to be desired during the laning phase.
- Jax [Tier 1 Top] - Despite the nerfs to Jax, he continues to be a powerhouse in the current meta-game, especially as players are generally reluctant to end the game too early and prefer drawing it out for fun instead. This gives Jax players a higher chance to farm up two items and become the insane juggernaut we all know and love.
- Karthus [Tier 1 Mid] - Karthus still synergizes well with the new Dark Harvest. However, that means that his rise and fall tends to be largely tied into how well Dark Harvest is performing at the time. After a series of nerfs, Karthus is still strong but nowhere near he was when the rune was first reworked.
- Neeko [Tier 1 Mid] - Neeko is by far the most fascinating, and by fascinating I mean annoying champion that Riot's come up with in recent years. She's very good for catching enemies off guard with her trickster spells, and tends to do too much damage for her own good.
- Pantheon [God Tier Top] - Going back to the top lane abuse meta, Pantheon works insanely well. Most players are now going back to Electrocute over Dark Harvest, but he does well with both.
