This time around, we're seeing marksmen slowly coming back into dominance, but a few bot lane stragglers like Yasuo and Swain are sticking around. Instructions and Caveats:
- Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
- Champions UNDERLINEDmay be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgment.
- Within each tier, the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
- Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
- Professional Picks may not necessarily translate into good picks for solo queue ladder, the two have slightly different meta-games and skill levels.
- The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
- Fizz [God Tier Mid] - After the last round of Fizz buffs, he's back and better than ever before. By buffing both of his major damage skills, his assassination power is quite a bit better than before. The new buffs are even enough for some of the old on-hit Fizz builds to come back into play, but it's not nearly as popular as it once was.
- Graves [God Tier Jungle] - Graves continues to dominate everyone and everything on the Rift with his absurd damage. He does have some obnoxious utility when it comes to his Smokescreen, but as it stands, he remains a consistent and straight-forward power pick.
- Irelia [Tier 3 Mid] - By nerfing all of Irelia's ranges, she's effective ineffective as a mid-laner now. By making it just a bit more difficult to reach already far away targets, Irelia's poke-pattern is much more difficult to execute cleanly.
- Jhin [God Tier Bot Lane] - While many players still go Fleet Footwork, Hail of Blades is incredibly potent on Jhin as well. As it stands, it's tough to go wrong with either one. Stormrazor also continues to be a godsend for Jhin, and allows him to utterly dominate.
- Quinn [God Tier Top] - The Quinn nerfs really weren't too bad, and while she's obviously weaker than she was last patch, I think she still easily secures her God Tier placement.
- Rakan [God Tier Support] - Nerfs to Fiddlesticks and Morgana opened some room for movement and Rakan slips back into the mix. His well-balanced set of skills leaves him as one of the most versatile supports in the game. While his poke and sustain playstyle is much harder than his all-in, the fact remains that he does both very well.
- Yasuo [Tier 1 Bot Lane] - Yasuo bot continues to dwindle every day in popularity. However, with Miss Fortune and Jhin topping the list as some of the most popular marksmen, Yasuo's windwall and ability to run down squishies is exceedingly good against both of them.
- Zed [Tier 1 Mid] - I'm bumping Zed a tier down not because he's much worse than he was last patch, but the Fizz buffs were simply so good that Zed's comparably a bit worse.
