Instructions and Caveats:
- Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
- Champions UNDERLINEDmay be over/undervalued, but aren't/haven't played enough for me to make a better judgment.
- Within each tier, the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion's strength is relatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
- Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion's strength but are not the end-all criteria for any champion's position.
- Professional Picks may not necessarily translate into good picks for solo queue ladder, the two have slightly different meta-games and skill levels.
- The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
- Brand [Tier 1 Support] - After bruisers started transitioning bot lane along with engage-type melee supports, Brand is really showing enemy players why it's not good to have two melee in the same lane. His ability to destroy high health targets is also insanely good, making him a hard-counter to any bot lane bruiser comps.
- Fiddlesticks [God Tier Support] - Similar to Brand, Fiddlesticks specializes in making two similarly ranged champions hate their lives. He was already starting to get strong for the past few patches, but the nerfs to shield supports really put him over the top. Meanwhile, he makes for the perfect Master Yi counter, something every champion should strive for considering Yi's massive play rate.
- Janna [Tier 1 Support] - Janna is one of those champions that can never be truly bad, even if it's only for her ability to knock back enemy spells and negate their damage. However, now that she's lost a core piece of her skill, she's must more of a skill-based champion than before.
- Lucian [God Tier Hypercarry] - Lucian in the current meta plays as a bruiser/bruiser slayer hybrid. By picking up Black Cleaver, he's much tankier than the majority of his fellow marksmen. Meanwhile, Blade of the Ruined King completely decimates enemy bruisers, resulting in a specializes marksman build that ends up being good in every situation.
- Miss Fortune [God Tier Hypercarry] - Miss Fortune is one of those marksmen that have an insanely good early game, and allows her to readily use and abuse bruisers and enemy marksmen alike from early through mid-game. Her powerspike with one or two items is impressively strong, and if you run Dark Harvest, one-shots aren't out of the question. As a champion that rarely built crit to begin with, she's actually stronger in this new meta.
- Mordekaiser [Tier 1 Hypercarry] - When it comes to double laned melee champions, Mordekaiser performs incredibly well. His ultimate also gives him supreme control of the bot lane both as a duelist and with his ability to pressure dragon into rapid tower destruction.
- Morgana [God Tier Support] - Morgana fits the hypercarry meta so well it's not even funny. Meanwhile, after the nerfs to shield support Morgana still works especially well. Scaling her shield strength was never her strong suit, and instead her engagement skills coupled with her high base shields allow for victory.
- Pyke [Tier 2 Support] - Now that players have learned to play and play against him, Pyke tends to be just average right now. The change to a bruiser meta definitely hurt this assassin wannabe, but he's still perfectly playable and more importantly, fun.
- Taliyah [Tier 1 Jungle] - Taliyah jungle continues to perform better and better as people start accepting that it's no longer a simple troll pick. The bruiser meta also works well with her ranged poke, and gives your team the same amount of front line/back line synergy as before the meta shift.
- Yasuo [God Tier Hypercarry] - Yasuo has been the prime candidate for bot lane meta shifts for a long time. His windwall naturally counters enemy ranged champions, and his massive sustained damage allows him to be an incredible duelist. As a result, it's no surprise that he's found his way to the top of the list when it comes to a melee bot meta.
- Zyra [Tier 1 Support] - Zyra was buffed a few patches ago and never seemed to catch on. It's a shame though, because her damage output is incredibly good. In fact, it's almost too good. Similar to Brand, her AOE damage can make quick work of closely grouped champions in a way that will make them wish they were just a little farther back.
